Learn-To-Swim Program
All of our instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and teach according to the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program guidelines. Below is a list of the classes we offer along with a description to help you decide which class fi ts your child's needs best. The classes will last 30-45 minutes depending on the level, and there will be 10-15 minutes after each class to chat with the instructor about your student's progress.
Kid's Lessons
Preschool - Introduction to Aquatic Skills: Orient Participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water with songs and preschool appropriate games.
Level 1 - Introduction to Aquatic Skills: Orient Participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills such as proper arm and leg movements, floating, and becoming comfortable swimming independently.
Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Build on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1. Please note that this class will take place in deeper water than previous classes and students should be comfortable in water over their heads.
Level 3 - Stroke Development: Help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment. New skills include treading water, head first entries, front crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke kick.
Level 4 - Stroke Improvement: Help participants improve endurance for greater distances. New skills include open turns in to the wall, back crawl, and butterfly.
Adult Lessons
These classes are for those who are 16 years old and up.
Basics - Learning the Basics: Orientation to the aquatic environment and learning basic aquatic skills and safety. This class if for those will little to no experience in the water.
Intermediate - Enhancing Skills: Aims to enhance competence in fundamental skills and the six primary swimming strokes. This class if for those that know how to swim but would like to learn different swimming strokes.
Fitness - Fitness Focus: Refining strokes, flip turns, building endurance, and increased distance. This class if for those who already know a stroke or two and would like to refi ne them or for someone training for an event.
